Grifulvin Drug Information
Grifulvin (brand names include: Grifulvin V / S-Fulvin / Gris-PEG) is an antifungal drug.
Grifulvin is used for the treatment of fungal infections.
Indications include:
Tinea capitis (ringworm of the scalp)
Tinea corporis (ringworm of the body)
Tinea pedis (athlete's foot)
Tinea unguium (onychomycosis; ringworm of the nails)
Tinea cruris (ringworm of the thigh)
Tinea barbae (barber's itch)
Grifulvin Directions and Recommendations
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take Grifulvin exactly as directed.
The usual recommended adult dose for tinea corporis, tinea cruris, and tinea capitis is 500 mg daily.
For fungus infections such as tinea pedis and tinea unguium which are more difficult to eradicate, a daily dose of 1 gram is recommended.
The usual effective dosage for children is about 5 mg per pound of body weight daily.
