Lomper (generic name: Mebendazole; brand names include: Ovex / Antiox / Pripsen / Mebex / Wormin) belongs to a group of medicines called anthelmintics.
Lomper is used in the treatment of worm infections.
Lomper is used to treat:
Common roundworms (ascariasis)
Hookworm infections (uncinariasis)
Pinworms (enterobiasis; oxyuriasis)
Whipworms (trichuriasis)
Lomper can be used to treat more than one worm infection at a time.
This medicine may also be used for other worm infections as determined by your doctor.
Lomper works by preventing the worm from absorbing essential sugars needed for survival. This leads to the eventual death of the parasite within a few days.
Lomper Directions and Recommendations
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take Lomper exactly as directed.
Lomper can be used to treat adults and children aged 2 years and older. The dose of Lomper may be different for different patients. The number of doses you take each day, the time allowed between doses, and the length of time you take the medicine depend on the medical problem for which you are taking Lomper.
For common roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms:
Adults and children 2 years of age and over - 100 mg two times a day, morning and evening, for three days. Treatment may need to be repeated in two to three weeks.
For pinworms:
Adults and children 2 years of age and over - 100 mg once a day for one day. Treatment may need to be repeated in two to three weeks.
For more than one worm infection at a time:
Adults and children 2 years of age and over - 100 mg two times a day, morning and evening, for three days.
Lomper tablets may be chewed, swallowed whole, or crushed and mixed with food.
Lomper Precautions
Tell your doctor before taking Lomper, if:
you are allergic to any medicines;
you have Crohn's disease, liver disease or ulcerative colitis;
you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
